Loch Raven Dam Rehabilitation
Watershed
Public Use Provisions during Loch Raven Dam Rehabilitation
The rehabilitation project for Loch Raven Dam will require
ongoing truck traffic through the watershed, particularly
along Loch Raven Drive between Dulaney Valley Road and
Providence Road.
This section of roadway is a popular site for walking,
cycling, and skating. The City is concerned that the interaction
of recreational activities and construction traffic has
the potential to create conditions that are dangerous
to the public.
Accordingly, the City has implemented the following public
safety provisions, to be in effect until 2005.
" No parking, hiking, cycling, skating on Loch Raven
Drive, and adjacent sections of Morgan Mill Road and Providence
Road, M-F, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.
" No use of fire trail from Hoover Lane to dam during
periods of contractor use.
" No access to Loch Raven Drive from fire trails
between dams.
Restricted recreational use of Loch Raven Drive, between
Dulaney Valley Road and Providence Road, will only be
in effect during the work week. Weekend recreational opportunities
will not change (specifically closure of Loch Raven Drive
between Morgan Mill Road and Providence Road to vehicular
traffic).
The map below shows the location of the trails and roads
affected.
